The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) in the 66 Division, Brigadier M.D Wijesundara assumed duties as the 7th General Officer Commanding of the 66 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi on Friday (18).

A formal Guard Turnout and a parade greeted and honoured the new General Officer Commanding upon his arrival at the Headquarters in keeping with military traditions. Afterwards, amid religious blessings he left his signature in an official document and symbolized the acceptance of his new office.

He also planted a mango sapling in the camp premises to signify the occasion, followed by an All Rank tea.

All under command Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Divisional Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the 66 Division participated in the event.

He succeeded Brigadier Deepthi Jayathilake who was appointed the new GOC, 12 Division. |
