More than 25 Army troops took prompt action to arrest the spread of a wildfire in the general forest reserve area of ‘Punchi Sripada’ (little Sripada) in Ella on Sunday (8) after the matter was brought to the notice of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen).

Major General Rukmal Dias, Commander, Security Forces - Central on being informed of the possible spread it to the entire forest reserve, took necessary steps to bring its spread under control within a few hours since the area is very much of a tourist attraction.

The recent for this outbreak is attributed to the prevailing dry weather in the affected area. |
