622 Brigade Troops Coordinate Donation of Essentials to Helambawewa Villagers

622 Brigade of the 62 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ-W) coordinated the donation of dry rations and school accessories to students and villagers at Helambawewa village in Welioya following the patronage, offered by Ven Dambarawe Mahanama Thero and youths of Kudabollatha, Ganemulla during a simple ceremony at Helambawewa temple in Welioya on Saturday (7).

On a suggestion, made by the Brigade Commander, 622 Brigade, Colonel Saliya Amunugama, the donor group, together with the support of Army personnel of the 622 Brigade distributed this stock of essentials to the value of Rs 1.5 million among all 300 families in Helambawewa village.

Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division attended the event as the Chief Guest at the invitation of 622 Brigade Commander and distributed those essentials among villagers.

Further, gift items for ‘Bakmaha Ulela’ organized by the Sripura Jayanthiwewa Maha Vidyalaya and required stationeries for Helambawewa Primary School to the value of Rs 20,000/= were also donated by the same donors during the event on a request made by the Brigade Commander,622 Brigade.

Ven Unapana Ananda Thero, Adhikarana Sanganayake of Uva Sabaragamuwa Province, Rajakeeya Panditha Ven Welimadagama Kusaladamma Thero, Ven Dambarawe Mahanama Thero and a few officials of the Kudagolltha, Ganemulla Youth Club, together with donors and several Senior Officers in the 62 Division were associated with the donation programme.

Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W), has also given his support to the project.
