Major General Athula Koddippily, the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) in the 53 Division assumed duties Tuesday (22) morning during a simple ceremony at the 53 Division Headquarters, Inamaluwa, Dambulla.

A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the 53 Division saluted the new GOC, 53 Division during the event.

The newly-appointed GOC, Major General Athula Koddippily signed a formal document to signify the acceptance of the new office.

Afterwards, he planted a sapling and addressed the troops to mark his assumption of duties.

Several Senior Officers, including Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks serving under the 53 Division attended the occasion.
