Major General H.C.P Goonetilleke, the newly appointed Chief of Staff (COS) of the Army assumed office on Friday (16).

Major General H.C.P Goonetilleke, prior to this new appointment served as the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS). He succeeded Major General U.A.B Medawala.

The new COS signed an official document symbolizing the assumption of office during the simple ceremony.

Several senior officers attended the event.
