Army Woman Soldiers' Timely Action Enables Pregnant Woman's Safe Delivery

A 26-year old pregnant woman who went into labour while waiting in the queue to receive a passport at Battaramulla was rushed to Castle St Maternity Hospital by Army woman soldiers this morning (7) with the help of staff at Immigration & Emigration Department.

The woman who had joined the queue last evening (6) having gone there with her husband is a resident from Hatton-Dickoya area.

The timely dispatch of the woman to Castle St Hospital by Army troops enabled her to deliver an infant daughter safely. Both mother and the infant are now lying in the hospital.
