Army Moments

A solemn military funeral was held on 01 July 2025 at the new crematorium of the General Cemetery, Borella, to bid farewell to the late Brigadier A.P.D Edirisuriya (Retd) KSV. The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of military personnel, dignitaries, and mourners who came together to honour the distinguished officer’s service to the nation.

Major General A.M.A Abeyawardana WWV RWP RSP ndc assumed duties as the 22nd General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Infantry Division on 26 June 2025 at the 58 Infantry Division amidst military formalities.

Major General K.N.D Karunapala RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division, assumed duties as the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL) on 26 June 2025 at the Regimental Headquarters, SLACAL, Karandeniya.

The Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) bade farewell to Major General P.R Pathiravithana USAWC psc, the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment of SLNG, on 28 June 2025 at the SLNG Regimental Centre.

Major General P.K.W.W.M.J.S.B.W Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc assumed office as the 22nd Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) on 30 June 2025 at the SLNG Regimental Centre.

Brigadier A.P.D Edirisuriya (Retd) KSV, Passes away on 28 June 2025 after a brief illness at his residence. He was 86 years old at the time of his demise.
