The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), in collaboration with Lions International District 306 D6, launched a large-scale charitable programme titled “Weights of Hearts in Need Cherished by the Hands of Compassion” on 10 November 2025 at the Headquarters, SLAVF.
The initiative, conducted under the direction of Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of the SLAVF, aimed to promote community welfare through donation and medical service programmes.
Lion Mahesh Boralugoda PMJF PMAF JP, District Governor of Lions District 306 D6, and Lion Major Thushara Samarathunga (Retd) MAF JP, Senior Additional Cabinet Secretary and Principal Programme Coordinator, representing the Lions Club, donated contributions valued at approximately Rs. 1,300,000.00. The donations included school accessories for children, nutritional packs for expectant mothers, dry ration packs for civil employees, and financial assistance for children undergoing prolonged medical treatments.
Additionally, a mobile eye clinic offered comprehensive eye examinations and treatment for conditions such as cataracts, while a blood donation campaign, organized in collaboration with the National Blood Bank, attracted a large number of donors.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, and beneficiaries were present at the event.
