Bringing the annual Sinhala and Tamil New Year spirits into the country’s largest service provider, the Sri Lanka Army, hundreds of Army personnel serving the Army Headquarters at Sri Jayawardenepura on Monday (10 April) joined hands together with one another and enjoyed typical festivities and traditional games during a New Year festival at Panagoda Army Cantonment. As the second segment of the itinerary, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage during his visit to the East took time off to see the Army Farm at Galkanda and inspected the egg production process, being carried out under the supervision of the 3 (V) Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL). The awarding ceremony of the Army Inter Regiment Drill and Pace Stick Competition - 2022 took place this afternoon (14 Tuesday) at Panagoda Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Parade Square, headed by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The colourful drill and band squads of different regiments rending the air with soothing melodies added grandeur and pride to the occasion as the large crowd of spectators and distinguished guests remained glued to the sequence of the ceremony’s proceedings. The competitions were held during November 15-21 in 2022 at respective regimental levels before today’s finals.
