Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) bade farewell to the Outgoing Commandant of SLAVF, Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu during a brief ceremony on 20 May 2024 at SLAVF premises, Kosgama.
Formalities commenced after Brigadier W.G.P Sisira Kumara RSP, the Overlooking Deputy Commandant of SLAVF and Inspector of Training extended a warm welcome at the entrance after troops greeted him in a Guard Turnout.
Soon after, he placed his signature in the official document marking the end of his tenure in SLAVF and noted his thoughts and good wishes on the visitors’ book at his office. Later, the Senior Officer unveiled his portrait at his office as a souvenir and posed for a few group photographs with the staff.
Addressing the troops, the Senior Officer recalled his memories at SLAVF, extended his gratitude for the troops for the support given during his tenure and conveyed his compliments for his successor. Afterwards, he interacted with the troops during an All Ranks tea.
As dusk fell, a Dinner Night was hosted in the honour of the outgoing Senior Officer at the Sappers’ Leisure Bay, Maththegoda. The day’s itinerary concluded by presenting mementos to Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of SLAVF were also present during those events.
