Archbishop of Colombo Blesses Newly Appointed Commander of the Army

The newly appointed Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, received blessings from His Eminence Cardinal, Most Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo, during a visit to the Archbishop’s House in Colombo on 11th January 2025.

He was accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU). This visit marked a significant occasion following the Commander’s assumption of duties at Army Headquarters.

His Eminence congratulated the Commander on his new role, acknowledging the Army Chief’s unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions to the Nation’s defence, particularly during challenging periods for the country’s security.

During the meeting, the Army Chief shared his vision and aspirations for the Army’s future. He emphasised his commitment to enhancing the Army's operational readiness and fostering closer ties with the community.

Concluding the visit, he placed a few remarks in the visitors' book.
