The Ambassador of the United States of America in Sri Lanka, HE Julie J. Chung paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage on Thursday (27) at the Army Headquarters, Sri Jayewardenepura, Pelawatte, Battaramulla.
The cordial meet that ensued after Her Excellency was welcomed by Major General HMLD Herath RSP USP psc, Chief Signal Officer and ushered to the Office of the Commander of the Army, largely focused on the bilateral training cooperation, demining and EOD assistance, fulfilment of Sri Lanka Army’s cyber security and communication capabilities etc.
Towards the end of the friendly meeting, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army, presented a memento to the envoy as a token of goodwill.
Defence Attaché of the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony C. Nelson and an official in the US Embassy were also present during the courtesy visit. Before the envoy’s departure, Her Excellency left compliments in the Visitors’ Book.
