To provide safe drinking water to villagers severely affected by kidney disease, the ‘Randiya’ water purification project commenced on 30 May 2025 with the construction of a Reverse Osmosis plant. The newly installed plant was officially inaugurated on 26 August 2025 at Kohomban Kulama village.
The project was made possible through the financial contribution of Dr. Ariyarathnam Gobikrishna and was coordinated by Major General (Retired) Ravi Rathnasinham. The construction was completed with the manpower of the 1st and 9th Battalions of the Sri Lanka National Guard.
Major General K.D.M.L. Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 57 Infantry Division, together with senior officers, officers, other ranks, government officials, and villagers, participated in the event.
