A high-level Russian military delegation, under the guidance of Major General Alexander Ivanovich Zinchenko, Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, participated in the Action Plan Conference at the Office of the Chief of Staff on 28th January 2025.
The conference focused on finalising the action plan for defence cooperation between the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and Sri Lanka for the year 2025. The meeting was co-chaired by Major General Zinchenko and Mr. Harsha Vithanaarachchi, Additional Secretary (Defence) of the Sri Lanka Ministry of Defence. Discussions highlighted the significance of diplomatic engagement in fostering bilateral military relations and strengthening strategic partnerships between the two nations.
The conference concluded with an exchange of mementos as a gesture of goodwill from the Sri Lanka Army, symbolising the commitment to continued collaboration. The event was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Defence - Sri Lanka, as well as representatives from the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, and Air Force.
This diplomatic engagement marks another step forward in enhancing defence cooperation between Russia and Sri Lanka, reaffirming both nations’ dedication to mutual security and strategic collaboration.
