New Colonel of the Regiment, GW Assumes Duties

Major General W.B.J.K. Wimalaratne RWP RSP, the General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division, assumed office as the 25th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on 18 November 2024 at the Regimental Centre.

The Senior Officer symbolically signed the official document to mark the acceptance of his new role, following the chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by the Maha Sangha.

On 23 November 2024, upon his arrival, he was honoured with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance, followed by a Guard of Honour at the Parade Ground. He then attended an All-Ranks tea gathering after commemorating the fallen war heroes and addressed all ranks. The event concluded with a lunch hosted in honour of the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment.
