Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, the newly appointed Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), conducted his inaugural official visit to the 55 Infantry Division on 3 January 2025.
During the visit, the Commander was briefed on the Division's roles and responsibilities. Afterwards, the visiting Senior Officer was posed for a group photograph followed by troops address. The Commander also visited the 551 Infantry Brigade area, including the War Hero’s Memorial and CIMIC Park in Kilinochchi, followed by the visit to the 553 Infantry Brigade.
During the visit, the Senior Officer handed over keys to a newly-constructed house in Pallikuda, Pooneryn, to a deserving family as part of the ongoing housing project initiated by the Security Forces (Jaffna). The house was built by the 22nd Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the supervision of the Commander, 552 Infantry Brigade, and the direction of the GOC, 55 Infantry Division.
The day's proceedings concluded with a visit to the 552 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and its area of responsibility. At each location, the Commander left complimentary notes in the visitors’ book to mark the occasion.
