Commander of the Army Receives Blessings from Clergy & Sacred Sites in Anuradhapura

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, along with Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, received blessings from the clergy and sacred sites, including the Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanweli Seya, on 5th February 2025.

The Commander made customary offerings to the Maha Sangha, including the Chief Sanghanayake of Nuwara Kalaviya and Chief Incumbent of 'Atamasthana', Sahithyashuri Most Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, the Chief Sanghanayake of the North and North Central Provinces and Chief Incumbent of Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Viharaya, Most Ven. Nugethenne Pagngnananda Nayake Thero, as well as the Chief Incumbent of Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Most Ven. Ithalawatunuwewe Ghanathilake Thero.

Offerings were then made by the Commander of the Army and Mrs. Rodrigo at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, Ruwanweli Maha Seya, and Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Viharaya, where brief exhortations (Anushasana) were offered by members of the Maha Sangha and blessings were evoked on the Commander.

During the visit, the Commander also met Rt. Rev. Dr. Norbert M Andradi OMI, Bishop of the Diocese of Anuradhapura, to receive blessings.

Major General J.P.C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander, Security Forces (Wanni), along with Senior Officers, accompanied the Commander on the visit to Anuradhapura.
