Chief of Staff of the Army Honoured in a Felicitation Ceremony at the Home of Gajaba

A grand felicitation ceremony was held on 21 March 2025 at the Gajaba Regimental Centre, Saliyapura, to honour Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B. Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc upon his prestigious appointment as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.

Upon his arrival at the Regimental Centre, the Chief of Staff was accorded a Guard Turnout. He then paid a floral tribute to the statue of the late Major General W.I.V.K.M. Wimalarathne RWP RSP VSV USP psc, the founding father of the Regiment.

Following this, the Chief of Staff was accorded a Guard of Honour. He then posed for a group photograph with fellow officers. To commemorate this significant milestone, he planted a sapling in the Regimental Centre by symbolising growth and the enduring legacy of the Gajaba Regiment.

Thereafter, he engaged in a cordial interaction with officers and other ranks at the All-Ranks tea held at the Other Ranks' Mess.

Following the military formalities, the Chief of Staff addressed Senior Officers and Officers at the Multi-Functional Hall, Regimental Officers' Mess. During his address, he provided valuable insights into key elements essential for professional excellence.

Concluding the day’s ceremonial proceedings, the Chief of Staff formally inaugurated the newly refurbished indoor badminton court at the Regimental Gymnasium. In the presence of Regimental Council Members, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks, he unveiled the commemorative plaque and executed the inaugural serve, symbolising the official commencement of sporting activities on the new court.
