Army Troops Facilitate Pilgrims During Exposition of Sacred Tooth Relic

The Sri Lanka Army continues to extend its dedicated support for the annual Sri Dalada Maligawa pilgrimage through a series of initiatives. In collaboration with the Sri Dalada Maligawa Authority, Sri Lanka Army troops have organized dansals to provide free meals and refreshments to pilgrims. Similarly, the Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit has organized a tea cup dan sala for 5,000 devotees per day.

Further, the troops, in association with the Sri Lanka Police, manage the crowd and ensure public safety throughout the sacred premises.

Additionally, troops provide specialised assistance to differently-abled pilgrims, enabling them to participate in religious observances with dignity and ease.

Adding a spiritual dimension to the event, the troops also organised a Bathi Gee performance.

Similarly, as a measure to ease the congestion caused by the large number of devotees who gathered to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic on 19th April 2025, the Sri Lanka Army promptly established a special exit route within the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises in less than 24 hours. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce overcrowding within the temple premises for devotees completing their pilgrimage.

Sri Lanka Army troops continued their dedicated support on 20th April 2025 by distributing 5,000 packets of bread and seeni sambal provided by the Asgiriya Viharaya and prepared by Army personnel, along with 39,200 rice packets made with the generous support of numerous donors, and 4,000 water bottles for devotees.

The expedition of the Sacred Tooth Relic continues successfully for the fourth consecutive day and under the guidance of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army, the Sri Lanka Army has undertaken responsibilities to provide necessary facilities to the devotees arriving to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Accordingly, targeting the large crowd of devotees waiting in queues to venerate the Sacred Relic, the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps has deployed mobile medical teams with the aim of providing treatment and preventing possible health complications that may arise due to prolonged exposure to intense heat, especially among individuals of varying age groups.

This programme is being carried out, covering all queues, and operates in coordination with special medical centres established in the Temple of Tooth Relic. Additionally, arrangements have been made to obtain ambulance support when required.

Meanwhile, a special team comprising 50 Army personnel has been deployed at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic from today (21 April), along with 50 wheelchairs, to assist devotees with special needs.

Sri Lanka Army troops continued their dedicated support on 22th April 2025 by distributing 29,280 rice packets made with the generous support of several donors, and meals served for 10,000 devotees in the dansala at the premises. Further they assisted differently abled pilgrims for homage during the Exposition of Sacred Tooth Relic.
