Troops of the 18th Sri Lanka National Guard were swiftly deployed to douse a wildfire that erupted in the Pihimbiyagolla forest reserve near the Kuragala on 03 June 2025. This was successfully conducted under the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division.
Meanwhile, troops of the 23 Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 11 Infantry Division, extended their full support to contain another wildfire near Dowa Viharaya, Bandarawela, on the same day. The fire was successfully brought under control.
