Major General T.N. Majeed RSP USP ndc Isc, Commander, Logistics Command, Security Force Headquarters (East) and Colonel Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps, was invited to the office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, on 02 December 2025, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after a distinguished military career spanning over 34 years.
Brief profile of the retiring senior officer:
Major General T.N. Majeed RSP USP ndc Isc enlisted in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army for the Intake - KDA 9 as an Officer Cadet on 17 November 1991. Upon successful completion of military training at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy and the Sri Lanka Military Academy, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Commando Regiment on 22 November 1993. Subsequently, the senior officer was transferred to the Military Intelligence Corps. After being steadily elevated to subsequent ranks during his service in the Army, he was promoted to the rank of Major General on 18 January 2025. The Senior Officer will retire from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 05 December 2025 on reaching 55 years of age. At the time of his retirement, he was holding the appointments of Commander, Logistics Command - Security Force Headquarters (East), Colonel Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Muslim Association.
Throughout his illustrious career, Major General T.N. Majeed RSP USP ndc Isc has held many key appointments including Intelligence Officer, Joint Operations Headquarters, Intelligence Officer, 17 Infantry Brigade, Intelligence Officer, Independent Intelligence Cell, Group Commander, Intelligence Cell, 22 Infantry Division, Intelligence Officer, 112 Infantry Brigade, Senior Intelligence Officer, Operations Command Colombo (OCC), Officer Commanding (Administration), Sri Lanka Military Academy, Chief Instructor, Military Intelligence Training School (MITS), Second-in-Command, 2nd Regiment Military Intelligence Corps, Officiating Commanding Officer, 1st Regiment Military Intelligence Corps, Intelligence Officer, Sri Lanka Battalion - United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) and Commanding Officer, 1st Regiment Military Intelligence Corps.
He also performed duties as Foreign Intelligence Coordinator, Chief of National Intelligence (CNI) Office - Ministry of Defence, First Secretary (Defence), Embassy of Sri Lanka in France, General Staff Officer 1 (Security), Directorate of Military Intelligence, Officiating Commandant, Military Intelligence Training School (MITS), Officiating Colonel (Intelligence), Directorate of Military Intelligence, Colonel (General Staff), 23 Infantry Division, Centre Commandant, Regimental Centre Military Intelligence Corps, Director of Directorate of Psychological Operations, Brigadier (Concept & Monitoring), Training Concept & Monitoring Wing, Directorate of Research Concept and Doctrine, Director of Directorate of Research Concept and Doctrine, Commander of Logistics Command, Security Force Headquarters (East) and Colonel Commandant, Military Intelligence Corps.
In recognition of his dedicated and exemplary service to the Sri Lanka Army, he was awarded the Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) and Utthama Seva Padakkama (USP). The senior officer has successfully completed the National Security and Strategic Studies Course.
He also attended several overseas courses including the Basic Intelligence Course – Bangladesh, Advanced Intelligence Staff Officers’ Course – India, United Nations Military Induction Training Course – Haiti, United Kingdom Training Course – United Kingdom, United Nations Protection of Civilian Course – Pakistan, Train the Trainer - Counter Violent Extremism (CVE) Course – Australia, Course on “Counter Terrorism, Cyber Security and Counter Transnational Crimes” – India, Defence Management Course – India, and the International Security Management Course (Online non-credit Course conducted by Erasmus University, Rotterdam) – Netherlands.
He has completed a Master of Business Administration at the London Metropolitan University, Postgraduate Diploma in Management at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management & Personnel at the Indian Institute of Management & Technology, Chennai, India, Bachelor of Arts (Defence Studies) at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy, Certificate Course in Business English at the Skills Development Fund Limited, Sri Lanka and Certificate Course in Human Resource Management at the Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM).
