The Christmas Carols Wanni 2024, organized by the 56 Infantry Division, was held at the “Cultural Hall” in Vavuniya on 29 December 2024, under the guidance of Major General K.N.D Karunapala RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division.
The event was graced by the Chief Celebrant, Most Rev. Fr. P. Christunayaham, Vicar General of the Mannar Diocese, who attended as the Chief Guest.
The event celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ with carols and prayers for peace. The Army Choir, along with choirs from St. Antony’s, St. Joseph’s, Our Lady of Assumption, and Madhu Matha churches in Vavuniya, enriched the occasion. The celebration concluded with a delightful display of fireworks and refreshments for all participants.
Clergy, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Government Officials, and more than 1,500 civilians participated in the programme.
