The 242 Infantry Brigade and its under-command battalions conducted relief operations in response to severe flooding in the Pottuvil, Panama, and Neelagiriya areas caused by adverse weather.
On 3rd March 2025, approximately 200 people in Panama were evacuated with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy, and the following day, the Brigade responded to flooding on Neelagiriya Road, which disrupted travel for around 1,000 Buddhist devotees. The troops swiftly assisted those stranded, providing immediate relief and ensuring their safety.
Major General H.C.L Galappathti RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding of 24 Infantry Division, and Colonel K.G.A.T Kalakorale RSP, Commander of the 242 Infantry Brigade closely monitored the operations.
