The Technical Operations Manager of Mines Advisory Group (MAG), Mr. Andrew Warsap (UK), accompanied by Consultant Officer, Major General (Retired) Kumara Peiris, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF - J), Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc on 26 February 2024 at his office.

The delegation was warmly received by the Commander, SF - J. During their discussions, Mr. Andrew Warsap provided updates on the progress of demining efforts in the Northern Province, highlighting MAG's role in assisting individuals affected by landmines, unexploded ordnance, small arms and light weapons. Currently, MAG's efforts in the Jaffna Peninsula are focused solely on the Muhamalai and Elephant Pass areas.

In conclusion, the Commander highlighted the importance of expediting these demining efforts to support the government's resettlement and reconciliation processes.
