Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Military Secretary and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps at the Army HQ made his first visit as the Colonel Commandant to the 4 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) Regiment in Trincomalee on 5 November 2023.

He was accompanied by Brigadier P.N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, Centre Commandant, Regimental Centre SLAC and Brigadier L.K.T Fernando RSP USP, Commander Armoured Brigade.

The Colonel Commandant at first paid floral tributes to the fallen War Heroes at the memorial. After planting a sapling to symbolize his visit, he addressed the troops and emphasized the importance of maintaining quality and standards of 4 SLAC and the Armoured Corps Regiment in general.

The visiting Colonel Commandant addressed the Officers at the Officers’ Mess, where he recollected the memories of his tenure at the 4 SLAC. Prior to the departure he left some compliments in the Visitors’ Book.

During the visit, the Colonel Commandant was invited to reopen the renovated Troopers’ Mess in the premises, too.

The design and construction of this new facility was done by 4 SLAC troops and material support for the construction was given by many well-wishers including a generous contribution made by Major General P.A.M. Peiris RSP USP psc, Director General Sports who provided the entire requirement of ceiling sheets.
