On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, a special tree planting programme was held on 05 June 2026 at the Army Agricultural Project in Battaramulla under the theme “Rooted in Responsibility – Growing for Generations.” The initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation and creating a lasting legacy for future generations through meaningful action.

The troops of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) arranged a formal ceremony to bid farewell to the outgoing Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, on 04 June 2026 at the Volunteer Force Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, commended the Sri Lanka Army Women’s players for their exceptional performance at the Central & South Asia Rugby Alliance Women’s Rugby Tournament 2026, where they emerged as champions. The tournament was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on 16 and 17 May 2026, with the participation of 11 nations from the region.

Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc of the Sri Lanka Artillery assumed duties as the 69th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, the second most senior appointment in the Army, on 01 June 2026 at the Army Headquarters.

The Army Headquarters Vesak Zone was ceremonially inaugurated by Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army on 30 May 2026. Upon arrival, the Commander of the Army was warmly welcomed by Major General H.H.K.S.S. Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Adjutant General of the Army. Thereafter, the Army Chief inaugurated the Vesak Zone illuminations.

The troops of Security Forces Headquarters (East) celebrated the Vesak Festival on 30 May 2026 at Sevanapitiya Samavihara, Sevanapitiya. Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces (East) graced the event as the Chief Guest.
