Indian Army Chief's Spouse Gifts Cash to 'Abimansala-1'

The spouse of the visiting India’s Chief of Army Staff, Mrs Bikram Singh nee Surjeet Kaur who is also the President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) called at Anuradhapura wellness resort, ‘Abimansala – 1’ for dependent disable War Heroes on Friday (21) in the company of Mrs Renuka Sriyangani Perera, the spouse of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ-W) and several senior officers.

Mrs Singh upon entry into the ‘Abimansala-1’ premises was received by senior officers and Colonel V.M.K Bandara, Commandant ‘Abimansala-1’. Later on, the visiting Mrs. Singh went round the premises and saw for herself how the Army is caring for disable War Heroes and their well-being under this project.

Mrs Singh afterwards watched a detailed multi-media presentation on the functions of this resort of rest and recreation at the auditorium. Showing her concern towards the welfare of those disable Army personnel, she made a monetary gift of US $ 1000 to the ‘Abimansala – 1’ soon after the presentation before the end of her programme at Anuradhapura.

The lady in her attendance, Mrs Renuka Sriyangani Perera on behalf of the ‘Abimansala – 1’ staff and the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), presented a memento to the visiting AWWA President as a token of memory of her visit to the venue towards the end of the interaction at the auditorium.

212 Brigade Commander, senior officers and several ladies were associated with Mrs Singh’s stopover at Anuradhapura ‘Abimansala – 1’.

On Thursday (20), Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB, together with a large gathering of ladies hosted a reception to the visiting Indian Army Chief’s wife at Colombo Galadari Hotel.
