Hindu Priests Invoke Blessings on Commander

COMMANDER of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, in accordance with traditions, received the blessings of Hindu deities on Tuesday (11) during a special pooja held at the Captain’s Garden Hindu Kovil in Maradana.

This is the first time, the newly appointed Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya made his offerings to the Hindu Shrine upon his assumption of duties as 19th Commander of the Army.

In keeping with Hindu religious traditions, priests at the Captain’s Garden Kovil (temple) garlanded and welcomed the Army Commander on arrival. Hindu priests invoked blessings on the Commander and his appointment upon offer of a tray of fruits dedicated for the name of the deities.

Army Commander earlier made offerings to the sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy and obtained blessings of the Mahanayakes of Asgiriya and Malwatta chapters.
