  • Bangladesh Army Chief Views Sniper Demonstration

    General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen, Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army, now on a five-day goodwill visit, arrived at the Sri Lanka Army’s premier training institution, Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa Saturday (26) morning, to be warmly received by Brigadier J. R. Kulathunga, Commandant SLMA. A special Guard Turn Out greeted him at the main archway to the SLMA complex in conformity with military traditions. General Mubeen before the programme’s commencement laid a floral wreath at the foot of the SLMA War Memorial and commemorated the memory of fallen War Heroes.

  • They Give Blood to Patients at Jaffna Teaching Hospital to Mark Anniversary


    Commemorating the 18th Anniversary of the 51 Division, now based in Kopai, troops donated blood for the use of patients at Jaffna Teaching Hospital during a recent special arrangement. More than 163 officers and other ranks of the 51 Division voluntarily offered blood to the blood bank unit of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. Dr T. Pradeepan, several members of the medical staff assisted the project.

    The closing ceremony of the 52nd Inter Regiment Athletics Championship of the Army and award of trophies to winners, took place at the Sugathadasa National Stadium Thursday (27) evening during a grand and wonderful ceremony. Organized by the Army Athletics Committee, chaired by Major General Amal Karunasekara, the closing ceremony was graced by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva as the Chief Guest.
