  • Army Christmas Carols Get Underway at St. Joseph's College

    As the season of sharing and caring with compliments set in with the forthcoming Christmas and the dawn of a New Year, the Sri Lanka Army contributed its share to the phenomenon by holding a Christmas Carols service at St. Joseph’s College Chapel Wednesday (21) evening.


    Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army suspended the service of four soldiers, involved in the fatal road accident in Jayanthipura, Polonnaruwa which claimed the lives of two persons with immediate effect without pay. An Army truck with four soldiers collided with a car killing two persons on the spot on 21 May 2015 while it was returning after some duty commitments.
  • Navy Destroys LTTE Suicide Boats

    MULLAITTIVU: SRI Lanka Navy on duty in the seas off MULLAITTIVU confronted a cluster of LTTE attack boats during Sunday (26) wee hours and sank three of those vessels with terrorists on board. According to the Navy, at least 12 terrorists were confirmed killed and several were injured in confrontations that lasted for  a few hours. The cluster of LTTE attack boats had set off from VELLAMULLAIVAIKKAL shore around 1.00 a.m. for their latest futile mission.

    The Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), intending to resolve issues pertaining to war-affected disable War Heroes, had its ‘mobile service’ arrangement at Regimental Headquarters of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) in Boyagane, Kurunegala on Monday (4).
