Army Cricket Team Shines in First Class Major Cricket Tournament

Cricketers in the Army Cricket team won the third place in the 1st class Major League Cricket tournament, organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket Control Board.

This tournament was held from 19 August to 15 November at number of first class Cricket grounds in island wide under two groups as A & B where 26 well known island-wide teams participated in the tournament.

The Sri Lanka Army team secured the second place in the 'B' category points table achieving the third place in the overall tournament.

Gunner K.W.K.S.K Nanayakkara of the Sri Lanka Artillery took 66 wickets and emerged to be the second as the most leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Chairman, Army Cricket Committee and all other members gave their maximum support for the success of the Army team in the finals.
