The newly-constructed operating theatre, ‘Pranama’ and the kitchen unit at the Army Base Hospital in Palaly, Jaffna was inaugurated on Tuesday (18) during a simple ceremony, headed by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna.
Major Lahiru Rathnaweera, Commanding Officer of the Army Base Hospital in Palaly symbolically received the keys for both the new operating theatre and the kitchen unit from the day’s Chief Guest. Those facilities were urgently required in order to uplift health facilities and well-being of patients and staff in the hospital and the Jaffna Commander’s initiative in this regard resulted in getting those new additions.
The manpower assistance for the project was provided by 5 Corps of Engineer Services (CES) Regiment under the guidance of Brigadier Clifford Zoysa, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - North.
Senior Officers, troops and administrative officers were associated with the day’s inaugural occasions.
