8 SLLI Troops Help Flood-affected Students in Malwana

Troops of the 8 Sri Lanka Light infantry (SLLI) under command to the 141 Brigade of the 14 Division under the Security Force HQ-West during 5-6 September came forward to assist flood-affected students in the Malwana area to attend schools as many of them remained stranded being unable to move out in the gushing waters.

The Kelani river which cuts across Malwana-Kaduwela areas overflowed its banks and flooded the area due to torrential rains.

The Commanding Officer, 8 SLLI under the supervision of the Commander, 141 Brigade carried out those relief operations using Army boats, buses, and manpower.
