Over 300 deserving families residing in Bulathkohupitiya, Undugoda, Hettimulla, Kotiyakumbura, Galigamuwa and Arandara areas in the Kegalle district were donated dry ration packs at the Kegalle main post office on Tuesday (31) with the sponsorship, provided by Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation, Shasanarakshaka Bala Mandalaya Kegalle and the Tan Ngak Buay & Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore) who have been actively engaged in relief roles in the past couple of months.
It was coordinated through the Security Forces Headquarters -West and the Army personnel of 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the close supervision of the Commander, 611 Brigade of the 61 Division arranged the donation in consultation with respective state officials who picked deserving families.
The distribution event was conducted under the supervision of the Commander, Security Forces-West, Major General Deepal Pussella. Each dry ration pack was worth Rs.1500.00. Further, the selection of deserving families was coordinated by the respective Grama Seva officials and District Secretariat officials in collaboration with the 611 Brigade HQ.
Clergy, District Secretary and Divisional Secretary for Kegalle, Senior Superintendent of Police in Kegalle, Commander 611 Brigade, Brigadier Janaka Udowita, 611 Brigade Commander, several senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with this project.
