SFHQ-MLT Conducts Cricket, Volleyball & Football Tournaments for Officers & Other Ranks

Cricket, Volleyball, and Football tournaments that could further boost understanding and service ties between Officers and Other Ranks serving all establishments including training schools under the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) were organized at 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment ground in Mullaittivu during 1- 13 August 2022 following the conceptual guidance given by Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, SF-MLT.

Brigadier Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division took the responsibility of organizing the tournament in order to further promote sports skills and build up better ties among the Officers and the ranks at battalion levels. The Cricket tournament, held from 01st August 2022 to 03rd August 2022 awarded the Championship trophy to enthusiastic players of the 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment cricket team. 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment players were the runners-up.

The Volleyball tournament, conducted from 04th August 2022 to 07th August awarded the Championship trophy too to 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment players.7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry players carried the runners-up slot. The Football tournament meanwhile after a neck-to-neck tussle gave the Championship trophy to 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment players.

Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, SF-MLT as the Chief Guest witnessed the finals and the awarding ceremony at the invitation of Brigadier Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division. Trophies, cups, and certificates were distributed among the winners amidst roars of applause.

Brigadier Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Brigadier Charith Dissanayake Brigadier Administration and Quartering-Security Forces Headquarters-Mullaittivu, Brigadier Chaminda Gamlath, Brigade Commander, 571 Division, Brigadier Ramith Prasanna, Brigade Commander, 573 Brigade, Colonel Illantha Ranathunga Colonel General Staff of the 57 Division and Colonel Niranjan De Silva, Colonel Administration and Quartering of the 57 Division were among those who witnessed the day's finals.
