Hon Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Amaraweera on Saturday (6) during a visit to the East dropped in at the Kandakadu Army farm with the intention of receiving a firsthand experience about the Army-managed maize and green chilli cultivations inside the farm.
During his visit to the location, he closely looked at varieties of crops, being grown by Army personnel in the Kandakadu farm where he inquired into various aspects of crop productivity, use of organic fertilizer and seasonal crops. He also expressed his appreciation about the dedicated role of the Army for promotion of agricultural aspects.
Director Agriculture and Livestock, Brigadier Arosha Rajapaksha and Lieutenant Colonel B.M.T.A Beddewela, Commanding Officer 3 (V) SLACAL were there when the Minister arrived at the location.
