An initiative taken by the 513 Brigade HQ of the 51 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna with the blessings of Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna enabled 150 school students and their parents to have a sumptuous dinner at the recently-opened CIMIC park on 22 May as one more community-oriented hospitality project.
51 Division HQ troops volunteered to assist this programme on their own by pocketing out their resources for preparation of the meals in order to make those poor civilians in Selwapuram, Yogapuram and Palpanni areas in Kopay area happy and contended with the Security Forces.
During the same dinner treat, 513 Brigade Commander Colonel Rizvi Razick and the Civil Affairs Officer of the 51 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Anas Ahamed delivered a lecture with a presentation on the general demography of Sri Lanka, traditional dresses and customs among different ethnic groups, personnel habits and mess etiquettes.
51 Division’s General Officer Commanding, Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe who has now been tipped to be the new Military Secretary took part in the project that got underway at the CIMIC park for the first time in the peninsula as the Chief Guest.
