Low-income group students learning at Pottuvil Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya in Pottuvil were the recipients of school accessories, stationeries and educational aids, thanks to the coordination, recently made by 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 242 Brigade under the 24 Division of the Security Force HQ-East.
BMIS Pvt Ltd, Rajagiriya sponsored the stock, worth about Rs 350,000.00 and beneficiaries of Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil ethnicity were selected in consultation with Grama Seva officials, Principal and teachers as per instructions of 242 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Sampath Fernando. All 114 students in the school under the project received school bags, CR Books, Mathematical instrument sets, carbon pens, blank sheets, etc.
242 Brigade troops organized the arrangements for distribution inside the school premises with the support of tutorial staff.
The Brigade Commander, Zonal Educational Director, the Principal and Teachers of the school, Civil Affairs Officer of the 242 Brigade, Commanding Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks in 23 SLSR, together with students and parents attended the event.
