Major General Y Balarathna Raja (Retd) of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) who had served the office of Chief of Staff many years ago passed away on Thursday (29) following a brief illness at the age of 83 years.
His remains are now lying at ‘The Respect’ parlour at Jayaratne funeral Directors at Borella. Funeral arrangements with full military honours will take place at 4.00 pm on Thursday (2) at General Cemetery, Colombo.
During his military career, he served the office of 24 Brigade, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna, 1st Armoured Brigade Commander, 21 Brigade Commander, 1 Division Commander, Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Chief of Staff, Army Headquarters.
