Brigadier Nissanka Eriyagama of Special Forces (SF) assumed duties as the 35th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 21 Division, amid religious blessings at the 21 Division Headquarters in Anuradhapura on Saturday (7).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 21 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers on his arrival and honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by 7 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps troops.
Afterwards, the new GOC was invited to the office and placed his signature in an official document to mark the assumption of his duties, amidst 'Seth Pirith' chanting of the Maha Sanga.
Later on, the new GOC addressed all the Officers and Other Ranks serving the 21 Division and outlined his plan of action in the days to come.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 21 Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Rankers were present during the day's event.
His predecessor, Major General Mohan Rathnayake has now been posted to the office of General Officer Commanding, 61 Division.
