A two-acre patch of paddy fields, cultivated by troops using organic fertilizer in the general area of Mullaittivu provided a bountiful harvest to the astonishment of 13 Sri Lanka National Guard troops of the 643 Brigade under the 64 Division HQ of the Security Force HQ-Mullaittivu who were instrumental in cultivating those paddy-fields some months ago.
The typical Ran Aswanu Neleema (harvesting) on Wednesday (16) took place at the location in accordance with ancient rites and rituals.
Major General Upali Weerakoon, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division, Brigadier Tiral De Silva, 643 Brigade Commander, Colonel General Staff of the 64 Division, Commanding Officer, 13 Sri Lanka National Guard, Agrarian officials in Mullaittivu, officers and other ranks witnessed the harvesting arrangement.
