On information received from Military Intelligence, troops of the 1 Commando Regiment under command to the Security Force HQ - East on Sunday (14) raided a Cannabis (Ganja) cultivation in the general area of Bakmitiyawa reserve, Ampara and destroyed it.
The illegal crop cultivation, grown in about 6 acres of land has been done secretly inside jungle areas to the value of about Rs 60 m. Policemen also visited the location after its detection was intimated to them by the troops. Troops pulled out all plants and destroyed the crops under the supervision of the Police.
