A total of 31 Warrant Officers who completed the 'Quarter Master Commission Course No - 23' at the Army School of Logistics (ASL) in Trincomalee had their Passing out Parade (POP) on 10 March 2021 at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School (SLAVFTS) at Diyatalawa where they were adorned with their probation insignia.
The Course conducted in two stages at different training establishments in the Sri Lanka Army covering the ASL and the SLAVFTS commenced on 3 December 2020 under the supervision of the Directorate of Training and on the directions of the ARTRAC. Moreover, it also produced 23 Regular Officers and 08 Volunteer Officers to the Army.
The course was designed to achieve the aim of transforming qualified and disciplined selected Warrant Officers of the Sri Lanka Army Regular and Volunteer Force as Quarter Masters.
Major General Sena Waduge, Commander Army Training Command (ARTRAC) and Colonel of the Regiment Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Colonel H.A Keerthinatha, Commandant SLAVFTS on the directions and blessings of the Commander of the Army and Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF).
On his arrival at the School premises, the Chief Guest was warmly welcomed by the Commandant, SLAVFTS and was saluted in a Guard Turnout and invited to review the parade, presented by Major M.W Wishwamithra, Chief Instructor SLAVFTS and those Warrant Officers. The Chief Guest afterwards closely reviewed the parade and received the salute of those students from the saluting dais.
Adding to the proceedings, the probation insignia were then adorned on those Warrant Officers who passed out as probationary Officers in the parade. The Chief Guest made a brief address on the occasion and reminded the importance of maintaining discipline at all levels.
Towards the end, he was invited to appear for a group photograph with all passing out officers and join refreshments with other invited Officers and Officers in the School.
