Cream of Army Athletes Given Outbound Training at Maduru Oya

In order to further stimulate mental well-being and stability of Sri Lanka Army athletes who shone in international and national events, the Special Forces Training School (SFTS) at Maduru Oya conducted an outbound three-day training workshop for 80 Army athletes and their trainers during 3 - 7 March on the guidelines given by Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Chairman, Army Athletics Committee and Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi.

On a conceptual direction given by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army for the purpose of elevating the mental stability and self-confidence of Army athletes who represent both the Best Pool and the National Pool, the workshop focused on ‘Positive Thinking’, ‘Sensitive Intelligence Management’, ‘Identification of Mental Disorders’, ‘Self-confidence through Motivation’, ‘Pride, Culture and Skills Development’, ‘Patriotic Sentiments’, ‘Culture & Promotion of Skills’ and other related spheres.

A panel of experts in the Special Forces delivered lectures during the workshop and it was attended by Warrant Officer Nadeeka Lakmali (Gold Medal in 13th South Asian Games), Staff Sergeant U.K.N Ratnayake, Staff Sergeant Himasha Eshan, Corporal Sugandhi, Corporal Lekamge, Bombardier Aruna Darshana, Lance Corporal Rajasinghe, woman soldier E.K Madhushani and woman soldier Dilshi Kumarasinghe and other athletes of the Army.

Towards the culmination of the workshop, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, presented certificates and commended them as the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony.
