Sri Lanka Air Force Inaugurates 70th Anniversary Air Show

HE the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Mrs Ioma Rajapaksa, First Lady, Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke, Governor of the Western Province, Mr Lalith Weerathunga, Principal Adviser to HE the President, HE Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner of India for Sri Lanka, General Kamal Gunarathna (retd), Secretary, Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Secretary, State Ministry of National Security and Disaster Management and Mrs Chithrani Gunarathna, Chairperson, MOD Seva Vanitha Unit, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva and Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit graced the Sri Lanka Air Force’s 70th anniversary Air Show at Galle Face this evening (3).

The SLAF proudly marking its 70th anniversary inaugurated the Air Show which will go on until 5th this week in collaboration with the Indian Air Force. In keeping with the longstanding bonds of neighbourly goodwill and camaraderie between India and Sri Lanka and also between the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Indian Air Force, the Indian Air Force with its 14 fleet contributes to the rare Air Show in Colombo skies.

The IAF contingent participating in the event will showcase aerobatics displays by Sarang Helicopter Air Display Team, Surya Kiran Aerobatics Demonstration Team and Tejas Multirole Light Fighter Aircraft. The Sarang Helicopter Air Display Team operates modified HAL Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopters while the Surya Kiran Team operates BAE Hawk Aircraft.

A total of 14 aircraft are participating in the grand event. Further, 24 aircraft from the Sri Lanka Air Force will also fly through the skies above the Galle Face Greens. This aerial extravaganza will take place from 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. until Friday and remains open to the general public.Sportswear Design | Sneakers
