Major General Priyantha Jayawardana assumed duties as the 15th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi, amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the 57 Division Headquarters on Monday (22).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division was warmly welcomed by the Staff Officers of the Division Headquarters and honoured in a Guard Turnout. A colourful parade presented by the troops of 9 SLSR saluted him.
Later on, Major General Priyantha Jayawardana placed his signature for an official document to mark his assumption of duties, amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ in the presence of Senior Officers. He also left memories by planting a sapling to mark the event.
