The new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 68 Division, Brigadier Keerthi Bandara began his office as the 11th General Officer Commanding on Saturday (20) at the 68 Division HQ at Kombavil, Mullaittivu during a simple ceremony, inclusive of military traditions and religious blessings.
A formal Guard Turn Out and a subsequent Guard of Honour greeted the new GOC before he was invited to the office. There, he signed an official document to symbolize the official acceptance of the new office.
After group photographs with Officers and Other Ranks of the 68 Division, the GOC planted a sapling in front of the HQ office premises as a memory of his assumption of office. He later addressed the troops of the Division and set out his plans on implementation of the role and tasks of the Division. An all rank tea after a while enabled him to interact with Officers and Other Ranks.
