Brigadier G.D Sooriyabandara amid religious blessings and military formalities assumed office as the 18th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 59 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu on Friday (19).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout at the entrance soon after his arrival at the location.
Afterwards, Brigadier G.D Sooriyabandara placed his signature for an official document to mark his assumption of duties. Memories were also left in the premises by planting a sapling before he joined an all rank tea.
He made his first formal address to all Officers and Other Ranks after a while and set out his future plans for the Division and interactive community projects.
