Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) and Commander, Security Forces -Kilinochchi made his maiden visit to the 5 (V) Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on Tuesday (16) at Seenipura, Kantale.
The Colonel Commandant was honoured in a Guard Turnout at the main entrance on his arrival and welcomed by the Commanding Officer of the 5(V) SLA, Lt Colonel L.W.B Ridimahaliyadda.
Subsequently, he laid a flower wreath to the memory of fallen war heroes at the monument before the visiting Colonel Commandant addressed the troops of the 5(V) SLA. Later on, he planted a sapling in the premises to mark his visit. Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment afterwards had an opportunity to interact with the Colonel Commandant at the All Ranks' tea table. Commanding Officer of 5(V) SLA briefed about the present deployment, duties and developments in the Regiment followed by a visit to the camp site.
The day's programme concluded after he left compliments in the Visitors' Book.
Meanwhile, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda marked his maiden visit to the 10 Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on Thursday (11) at Vasavilan, Palaly.
The Colonel Commandant was honoured in a Guard Turnout at the main entrance of the 10 SLA on his arrival and welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 10 SLA Lt Col LNU Liyanaarachchi IG SLA.
Colonel Commandant addressed the troops and appreciated valuable contribution of the 10 SLA and interacted with all ranks during tea.
Subsequently the Colonel Commandant planted a sapling to mark his visit and took a group photograph in front of the RHQ 10 SLA. Commanding Officer of the 10 SLA briefed about the present deployment, duties and developments of the Regiment followed by the camp visit.
