The Commander, Security Forces - East (SF-E), Major General Rasika Fernando paid his maiden visits to the 241 & 242 Brigades in Ampara on Tuesday (29).
The day’s itinerary got underway after Major General Rasika Fernando arrived at the Headquarters 241 Brigade, Akkaraipattu where he was greeted to a Drive Past salute at the main entrance. Subsequently, the visiting Commander was warmly received by Colonel Janaka Wimalarathna, Commander 241 Brigade.
To mark his arrival at the Brigade Headquarters, the SF Commander was invited to plant a ‘Mango’ sapling in the premises. Later, the Commander, 241 Brigade briefed the visiting Commander on operational and administrative matters in the presence of all Battalion Commanders.
The SF Commander later visited the 242 Brigade in Komari and was warmly welcomed by Colonel Chandika Peiris, Commander 242 Brigade. He symbolically planted a sapling to mark his visit and thereafter had discussions with Officers and Other Ranks as well.
Further, the Commander SF-E had inspection visits to 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), 3(V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and flood-affected Lahugala area where the troops provided transport facilitates for civilians on the instructions of the Commander SF-E.
